"Heron Dance" painted drum by Foxfeather R. Zenkova

Jan. 2005
This was a commission piece, the image is painted on a 12" octagon-shaped deer hide drum.
The colors and painting are much softer and more vibrant in reality.

Heron is a symbol of patience and wisdom. Heron people are generally good orators and leaders, powerful speakers and good listeners. Heron medicine teaches people that good things are worth waiting for, when to speak and when to listen.

Medium: acrylic on deerhide
Tags: bird music crane heron haida northwest native spiritual drum drums
Broken Time by vantid

We set him free among our minds, we set him free for all times. He wanders free among among our minds, among the archticture of our wisping winding thoughts. He finds his way into our dreams, sowing thoughts for threnodies of all thats lost and bitter nostalgia. These are the sepulchral niches he treads into, no fear no worry and no cosmic hurry. Our alveolated minds provide the honey from which he can find that's which we hold upon high, elevated and encapsulated and draped with love and history.

Sometimes these drawing get away from us...

Medium: Brushpen
Tags:
Mandala Intro Graphic by Swandog

I've seen many fine artists' galleries that have intro graphics on their main pages, and I like the look and idea of them, so I finally made one for my own site. This "mandala", for lack of a better term, symbolizes much of what I am and what I love. I've always been obsessed with Celtic knotwork, Art Nouveau (Alphonse Mucha's works in particular), Medieval heraldry and carousel art, and so I've tried to combine all these styles into one. My fursona and otherkin/totem creature is of course Swandog (swan/saluki gryphon), with a hidden unicorn side that few previously knew about (thus the horn in the center). I'm also a nocturnal person and love pastels, ivy, waterlilies, pearls, seashells, luna moths, stars, the moon, ribbons, tassels, spirals, feathers and wings. And being a Christian, I've included a Chi Rho symbol as well. The ivy border and wings were borrowed from my favorite of Mucha's images, and the knotwork was inspired by the awesome artist of Castpaper.com. :)

Medium: markers, colored pencils, ink pen
Tags: night unicorn Moon gryphon art Swandog wings sky stars moth Luna spirals celtic heraldry knotwork ivy nouveau feathers ribbons crescent pastels mandala horn alphonse mucha heraldic carousel nocturnal waterlilies lilypads pearls seashell tassels chi rho
